According to a recent published report from Dell’ (News - Alert)Oro Group, the shipments of IP lines grew an impressive 30 percent in the second quarter of 2007 over the same period a year ago, due in large part to demand driven by small businesses.

 

Dell’Oro Group, the trusted source for market information about the networking and telecommunications industries reports that small business seeking to gain the benefits of mobility and application integration selected an IP line for every four voice lines deployed during the quarter.

 

Alan Weckel, senior analyst at Dell’Oro Group said that Vendors continue to broaden their VoIP offerings to small and medium businesses. Weckel explains that Vendors, such as Avaya (News - Alert), Cisco, and Nortel, continue to expand their development and sales efforts in order to better target smaller businesses with VoIP solutions.

 

“With recent product introductions and a renewed focus throughout the industry to sell VoIP solutions to small businesses, the migration to IP will continue to accelerate,” Weckel said in a statement.

 

The Dell’Oro Group IP Telephony Enterprise Quarterly Report also shows that Cisco (News - Alert) surpassed Avaya in line shipments in North America, despite Avaya having one of its strongest quarters in Europe. Avaya has remained number two in the world, right behind Nortel (News - Alert) in worldwide line shipments.
