ABI: WiQuest Is Top Ultra-Wideband Vendor

By Nitya Prashant

WiQuest, a company that provides WiMedia-based ultrawideband solutions, today announced that a new Vendor Matrix by ABI Research (News - Alert) shows that it has captured the number one position among ultra-wideband vendors.

According to the company, ABI Research evaluated 15 WiMedia-based and proprietary UWB companies on the basis of implementation and innovation. There are multiple criteria related to product and company characteristics that serve as proxies for the vendors' performance in these two areas, according to the company.

Once they are evaluated, vendors are assigned numerical scores, which are aggregated and analyzed to provide overall rankings of each vendor on the innovation and implementation axes, company officials say.

Doug McEuen, a senior analyst at ABI Research said, “Each company was evaluated based on advancements in 12 key areas including market share, key customer announcements, certification, complete solution, data rates, and other areas.”

The information on ultra-wideband vendors is part of a study on Ultra-Wideband Connectivity, company officials say. This study describes the increasing demand for UWB in the PC, PC peripheral, consumer electronic and cellular handset marketplace, officials say. The report analyzes critical market conditions, from drivers and obstacles to global regulations and standards and tracks both positive and negative market forces numerically, they say.

“WiQuest is honored to be acknowledged as the global leader in ultra-wideband; offering customers a complete product solution,” commented Wayne Daniel, director of strategic marketing at WiQuest. “With this momentum in product implementation and the continual introduction of innovative new products and technology, WiQuest is extremely well-positioned for sustained success,” he added. “Our customers have recognized this value delivered by WiQuest and continue to commit their next generation products to us.”

Founded in September 2003, WiQuest’s solution portfolio includes silicon, software and manufacturing designs. WiQuest’s world class technology and technical support, the company believes, enables a new class of “off-the-shelf-production” wireless connectivity to PC, digital entertainment, consumer electronics and mobile systems.
