RAD's End-to-End SIP VoIP System Reduces Opex

RAD Data Communications, a manufacturer of access equipment for data communications and telecommunications applications, announced it will demonstrate its RAD VoIP System (RVS), an end-to-end session Initiation Protocol (SIP) voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) system this week at the Israeli High-Tech Companies Telco Road Show in Russia, organized by IBM's (News - Alert) Global Technology Unit (GTU).

The RVS enables service providers to roll out VoIP services to business and residential customers with a low initial investment and generate fast return on investment (ROI). RVS can be deployed on the existing telephony equipment, and since it is highly scalable, providers of all sizes can start with a small subscriber base and ‘pay-as-you-grow.’

The fully integrated RVS is comprised of IPVgate customer premises equipment (CPEs) and the IPVsuite Class 5 softswitch and provisioning system, RAD said in a statement. The system is compatible with VoIP media gateways and SIP end units, including softphones, IP phones and IP PBXs.

The system provides superior voice quality and call integrity. With its intelligent central management and provisioning system, RVS reduces operational expenses (Opex) and ensures a low total cost of ownership (TCO). With the help of central management, system repairs and upgrades are handled remotely from central sites, saving money for providers and keeping cost of ownership to a minimum.

The RVS’ service also includes call prioritization and bandwidth optimization, enabling the delivery of high quality calls even over low-cost Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) connections.

RAD’s VoIP solution for services providers offers convergence of business telephony and data traffic, generating savings on customer communications. It is fully compatible with IBM equipment.

“RAD has an established track record of interoperability with IBM,” said Shimon Mezi, senior sales manager of RAD Data Communications (News - Alert). “RADview-EMS, for example, RAD's carrier-class, modular, client-server, scalable element management system, has been validated as ready for IBM Tivoli Software.”

RADview-EMS is now integrated with IBM's Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus software, which delivers real-time, centralized monitoring of complex networks and IT domains, Mezi added.

RAD provides solutions to serve the data and voice access requirements of service providers, incumbent and new carriers and enterprise networks. The company has installed over 10,000,000 units so far for more than 150 carriers and operators around the world.
