Aastra Intecom, BroadSoft Team on IP-PBX
By Niladri Sekhar Nath TMCnet Contributing Editor Aastra Intecom, provider of enterprise communications and contact center solutions for large enterprises, and BroadSoft (News - Alert), Inc., developer of voice applications servers, have decided to form a strategic alliance to offer integrated VoIP
Under the agreement, Aastra will use BroadSoft’s carrier-grade BroadWorks VoIP platform as the foundation for its new next-generation IP-PBX
“Aastra has a rich history of product innovation, including the first commercially-available VoIP platform, integrated call center and PBX (News - Alert) functionality, and the first IP
Michael Tessler, president and CEO of BroadSoft, added, “BroadWorks is the de-facto VoIP standard for service providers and Aastra Intecom has an impressive history of selling to the world’s largest and most demanding enterprises,” said Tessler. “Our strategic partnership with Aastra presents an excellent opportunity to reach new markets, giving enterprise customers access to the same technology used in the most advanced carriers.”
The alliance will combine VoIP applications available on the BroadWorks platform with Aastra’s know-how in implementing complex solutions for large organizations.
“Enterprise IT executives are challenged with providing an extremely reliable communications infrastructure that integrates voice, data, and collaborative applications. Obtaining 99.999% uptime can require an overload of redundant equipment,” says Robin Gareiss, executive vice president of Nemertes Research. “The ability to use a system that provides carrier-grade reliability and technology at enterprise price points, and the option to use open standards-based handsets, will be very appealing to large companies.”
