Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) access devices and gateways Mediatrix Telecom (News - Alert) has released its latest VoIP gateway designed to increase performance for the growing SOHO and remote office segments.

The Quebec-based company says it added the Mediatrix 4102 to its 4100 Series.

The Mediatrix 4102 is a security-ready VoIP gateway designed to connect remote workers and branch offices to the IP network, and is capable of connecting up to two analog phones and/or faxes, as well as a PC or a home router to a broadband modem, according to the company.

Marc Skinner, PLM director at Mediatrix, said the power and performance of the Mediatrix 4102 has enabled the newest member of the 4100 Series family of enterprise gateway solutions to deliver the right feature set for the growing remote office market.

"We are listening to our enterprise and service provider customers' needs and equipping them with sophisticated VoIP gateway solutions that will allow them to expand their application offerings and meet the growing demands of today’s workforce," said Skinner.

The 4102 is available in two models: the 4102 and 4102S. Here's the 4102 model (on right).

While the two models are touted as cost-effective low density products supporting current SIP and MGCP applications and rounds-out the 4100 series of gateways, the 4102 offers Mediatrix’s Transparent IP Address Sharing (TAS) technology and an embedded PPPoE.

The embedded client allows the PC to connect to the second Ethernet port and share the same public IP address. This eliminates the need for private IP addresses or address translations.

In addition, the 4102 also supports high compression codecs simultaneously on both analog voice ports, saving valuable bandwidth.

For its part, the Mediatrix 4102S supports SIP over TLS, SRTP and SNMP and provides interfaces seamlessly with the full Mediatrix portfolio of products in secure networks.
