Vitendo Delivers Industry's First UMA Softphone

Vitendo Systems, Inc., offering technology foe Fixed-Mobile Convergence (News - Alert), has released vFone 4.0, the industry's first UMA-based Softphone for PC applications.

vFone 4.0 is available immediately on Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Vista

“In the battle for capturing the indoor traffic, we believe that FMC-enabled cellular operators are in a perfect position to capture an increased share of the customers total monthly spend and start generating new revenue based on convergence,” Bernard Debbasch, Vitendo's President and CEO said in a press release.

He further added, “the UMA Softphone is a perfect platform to accelerate any FMC deployment and allow cellular operators to compete with peer-to-peer offerings that will stay 'unconverged' for the foreseeable future.”

vFone 4.0 offers the familiar look and features of a cell phone, allowing end users to make-and-receive calls and send-and-receive SMS from their laptops/desktops. A skinable user interface also allows OEM's to customize the look and feel of vFone to match their branding needs.
